Meet Jo – the newest member of the marketing team
Meet Jo, the latest addition to the Copper Bay marketing team. She brings a wealth of experience with her thanks to her background of working with brands and agencies.
There’s no one better to tell you about her than Jo herself. So we’ll let her take it away…
All about Jo
What did you do before joining the team?
Before joining Copper Bay, my husband and I made the move from London to Abergavenny in South Wales, so we both took career breaks for about 4 months over the summer while we settled into countryside life! Whilst in London, I spent the last 7 years working at brands and agencies, specifically in e-commerce and digital marketing. I worked in-house at companies including French Connection, GHD and Roland Mouret working on various digital marketing channels and activity, then moved to an agency as an Account Manager.
What drew you to a career in digital marketing account management?
Throughout my various roles in-house at brands, I naturally found myself being the person on hand to keep things organised! I love working in digital marketing, and how it’s always evolving and presenting new opportunities and challenges – but I also love organisation and planning (I know – nerd alert!) so a role combining digital marketing and account management seemed like the perfect fit.
What are you most excited about in your new role?
I’m really excited to expand my skills in this new role and work more with B2B clients and membership organisations. Also, as an organisational-obsessive, I’m excited to help the Copper Bay digital marketing team in managing their workload, and help find solutions which benefit us as a team and also our clients, so we can all achieve the best results!
What is your dream vacation destination and why is it the perfect metaphor for building strong client relationships?
Oooh tricky one – I’d say my dream vacation would be a road trip around the south of Italy! I’m desperate to hop between cities like Rome, Venice and Florence to take in the history and culture, then end with Sorrento or Amalfi to relax on the beach. I suppose it could be a metaphor for building client relationships because all working relationships should be based on an appreciation for the people, business and their history, but always balanced with fun and catching up over a coffee (or Aperol Spritz…!)!
What’s an interesting fact about you?
Again, tricky, as I don’t think I’m very interesting! But here’s a few mini facts about me:
- I’m fashion-obsessed! I studied Fashion Marketing & Management at university which was brilliant – and I love nothing more than reading up on the latest trends and seeing how people from all walks of life style themselves day to day.
- On the flip side, I love spending my spare time outdoors – particularly hiking around the many mountains of the Brecon Beacons with our gorgeous Border Collie, Millie! My husband actually proposed to me at the top of the Deri mountain just behind our house (and of course, Millie was there to help him pop the question!)
- My step-mum’s dad was a real-life Bond villain! His name was Walter Gotell and he starred as the head of the KGB in a few of the Roger Moore films.
